Mobile phone carrier Vodafone UK is expected to soon add to its offering a new, highly appealing Android-based smartphone, namely the HTC Desire Z.

No official announcement on the matter was made for the time being, but rumors on the phone's near arrival at the wireless carrier already started to emerge.

The new device was brought to the market last month, along with another new, high-end smartphone from HTC, the Desire HD.

Vodafone already has the Desire HD available on its airwaves, and it appears that it might not be too long before the other Desire arrives here too.

However, the handset is nowhere to be found on the carrier's website, though the guys over at EuroDroid stumbled upon a print advertisement pointing towards its near arrival.

In case there are some unfamiliar with what the new HTC Desire Z is capable of offering to users, we should note that it comes with about the same specs as the T-Mobile G2 smartphone currently on sale in the US does.

The handset sports a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, complemented by a side sliding QWERTY keyboard.

At the same time, it comes with support for 3G connectivity, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, and with a built-in GPS receiver.

Powered by a new 800MHz Snapdragon processor, the mobile phone is able to provide a similar experience as the one available on handsets packing the previous generation 1GHz chips.

The specs list for this device also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto-focus and HD video recording capabilities, as well as a microSD memory card slot for expanded storage space.

According to the available info on the phone's landing at Vodafone UK, we should see it made available for free on £30 or higher contracts.

However, it still remains to be seen when exactly the handset would become available for purchase at Vodafone, so keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
