Heading towards Verizon

Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is getting ready to launch its first handset powered by Google's Android operating system, the Motorola Droid, in a matter of days, and one should definitely ask what will come next, considering the fact that more than one Android phone was announced by the operator for the ongoing year.

One of the upcoming such devices that might hit Big Red before the year's end is supposedly the Motorola Calgary, a handset spotted in the wild a few months ago and which returned to make the headlines recently. Another possible Android phone for the carrier was said to be the HTC Hero that went to Sprint, based on a photo from the Verizon-Google event that took place at the beginning of the month.

Verizon was rumored before to plan on taking the Hero on its airwaves, and things seemed to connect, yet now another already rumored phone for the wireless operator has surfaced on the web, namely the HTC Desire, which is quite different from the Hero and is said to be even less appealing, but which shows that Hero will remain at Sprint.

However, BGR, which brought up the image with the phone, says that, according to its source, the HTC Desire is “extremely fast and similar in size” with the HTC Hero from Sprint. There are great chances that the new handset will come with a faster processor, and probably a higher amount of RAM, which should make it attractive enough.

No further details on the phone have emerged so far, and it will remain to be seen what version of Android it will come to the market with, as well as whether it will sport Sense UI or not. However, it should arrive during the ongoing year, which means that more info is to emerge in the near future, so stay tuned to learn more on it.
