The Australian arm of HTC has just announced that the HTC Incredible S smartphone is expected to become available for purchase in the country in the near future.

The announcement was made via Facebook, where the company also revealed that it plans on unveiling all the necessary details on the matter as soon as this week.

HTC has some exciting news coming up this week – The HTC Incredible S will be made available in Australia soon. Please keep watching this space for additional details,” the mobile phone maker notes.

No additional info on the matter emerged for the time being, though rumor has it that Vodafone might carry the device in the country, based on the fact that it would launch it on its airwaves in other markets as well.

The Taiwanese handset vendor unveiled the new HTC Incredible S in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The handset arrives on shelves as the successor of last year's HTC Incredible, which was made available in the United States as part of Verizon Wireless's DROID lineup. It is expected to hit Verizon too, as Incredible 2.

The new device seems pretty appealing, though it would have hard times competing against some of the latest high-end devices out there.

Incredible S arrives on shelves with a 1GHz Snapdragon application processor inside, with Adreno 205 graphics, and 1.1GB of internal memory.

It boasts a 4-inch Super LCD capacitive touchscreen display on the front, capable of delivering an 800x 480 pixels resolution, and an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for 720p video recording. The mobile phone also comes with support for HSPA+ 14.4mbit connectivity, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, GPS receiver, and access to applications via the Android Market.

All the necessary details on the arrival of this Android-based smartphone on the market in Australia should become available in a few days, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
