Following a quick report yesterday, the Palo Alto, California-based PC vendor, HP, has announced the introduction of its new, ultraportable computer systems, coming in the form of the ENVY 13 and ENVY 15 laptops. According to the company, the new products have each been designed to provide a unique feature, with the ENVY 13 boasting the brightest display in its class, while the ENVY 15 is said to be HP's fastest consumer notebook PC ever. Basically, the ENVY 13 comes to compete in the thin and light market segment, leaving the larger ENVY 15 model to provide customers with a choice for a high-end, portable PC, powered by Intel's upcoming Core i7 mobile processors.

“HP ENVY includes the latest in materials and technology inside and out and pushes the technological and performance boundaries of what can be done in sleek, powerful and lightweight notebook PCs,” Ted Clark, senior vice president and general manager, Notebook Global Business Unit, Personal Systems Group, HP, said. “Discerning consumers will get a premium experience and performance.”

HP's new ENVY 13 is designed with a 13.1-inch WXGA display that offers an impressive 82-percent color gamut and a 410 nit display brightness, making this laptop provide customers with the brightest display in its class. The color-rich display is powered by an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 discrete graphics solution, which makes use of the ATI Switchable Graphics technology to offer customers a choice for high-performance versus extended battery life. Packed with Intel's Core 2 Duo processors, the ENVY 13 is less than one inch thin and weighs in at 3.74 pounds, features that are due to the system's aluminum-and-magnesium chassis.

With the ENVY 15, things get really interesting, as the new laptop is the first to boast Intel's yet-to-be-announced Core i7 processors for mobile systems. The laptop can be featured with up to 16GB of DDR3 1066MHz system memory, configurable in the four available SODIMM memory slots, coupled with the high-performance, discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 graphics card, boasting 1GB of dedicated graphics memory. The system is featured with a 15.6-inch, high-resolution, LED backlit display and incorporates a Nightvision VGA webcam.

As for pricing and availability, if you have already fallen in love with HP's latest additions, we should inform you that their availability is slated for October 18, in the United States, with prices starting at US$1,699 and US$1,799 for the ENVY 13 and ENVY 15, respectively.
