Some news is just too good to be true

Already in development for about five years, Gran Turismo 5 is one of the most promising racing games in a long time. Most of the anticipation was caused by the fact that very little was known about the game, and the little that is know is just too good to believe. There will be around 20 main tracks available in it and the variation of such tracks will bring the total number to 70. As for the available horsepower to run wild on these tracks, Polyphony Digital, GT5's developer, promised over 1,000 vehicles for us to race.

The game will feature an advanced damage system, supplied by a real-time deformation engine that will affect cars according to the speed and angle of the impact. The damage will be both visual and mechanical, but with 1,000 cars as spares, we can't really worry about one or two scratched paint jobs. The PlayStation 3 GT5 will also feature a certain degree of compatibility with the PSP version of Gran Turismo, as you'll be able to export cars from the PSP version to the PlayStation 3.

After all that good news, some might wonder what's left for Gran Tursimo 5 to surprise us with. Well, apparently, there's still plenty of giddy excitement for us to have, as Official PlayStation Magazine has leaked an entire list of new features for the title. The biggest one of them is the introduction of Indy cars from the IRL. With all the things that the game promises, it's a little bit hard to keep track of everything, so a complete list of features known so far is posted below.

The game is set for release in Japan this March, and later on during the summer in North America, so that means that there could be even more treats in store for us, all waiting to be unveiled by Polyphony Digital.

1,000+ vehicles; All vehicles have modeled cockpits (170 premium cars will have interior damage modeling); All vehicles will have both physical and mechanical damage modeling; Indy (IRL) cars and tracks; NASCAR cars and track; Up to 16 players online; High-definition video uploads directly to YouTube; Multi-display rendering; Head-tracking; Full weather and night racing on all tracks; Night/Day on all tracks.
