The developers at Polyphony Digital and publisher Sony have announced that next week their racing game Gran Turismo 5 will get a free game update that will fix known issues while adding new functionality and a downloadable car pack that brings a number of new cars.

The Car Pack 2 will cost gamers 3.99 dollars in the United States and 3.99 Euro in Europe and will allow gamers to use the following vehicles: 2011 Mini Cooper S, 2010 Volkswagen Golf VI R, 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R and the new 2012 Nissan GT-R Black edition R35.

Those who have already paid for the first Car Pack are also set to get a bunch of goodies, even if they do not get the new DLC, including the Racing Kart 125 SP and five New Car Refresh cards that they can use in Gran Turismo 5 for free.

The new patch will allow for wheel changes on Standard type cars and the GT Auto mode will allow for a better view of how car changes affect performance.

The control have been somewhat tweaked and players also get more options linked to coupon use and to how multiplayer events are being set-up.

Gamers will also notice a significant change in the way sound effects are being used by the racing game.

To celebrate the approaching holiday season the developers are also offering the Toyota FT-86 2012 for free for all the gamers who update their Gran Turismo 5 to the 2.02 version.

Polyphony Digital also announced that those who have bought the Racing Car Pack or the Course Pack during October can now share that content with their friends and family who use the same PlayStation 3 to play the racing game.

After the launch of the 2.0 version of Gran Turismo 5 Sony has announced that fans can stay tuned for more DLC in 2012.
