Sony presented quite a lot of PlayStation 3 bundles in the U.S. ahead of Black Friday and the winter holiday season, but one of the best packages is now available in the UK, where the company is throwing in a PlayStation 3, as well as quite a lot of high quality games, including Uncharted 3, Gran Turismo 5, Battlefield 3, FIFA 12, and even a copy of the new Karate Kid movie on Blu-ray.

The PlayStation 3 is doing pretty well in terms of global sales, but Sony is aware that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is beginning to expand the lead it has on the console in the U.S. to other territories. As such, the Japanese company is wasting no time and has presented a very special bundle for its UK customers.

They will now be able to enjoy a new PS3 holiday package that includes the actual console, four great games: Uncharted 3, Gran Turismo 5, Battlefield 3, and FIFA 12, as well as a Blu-ray movie, in the form of the Karate Kid, all for £259.95 (€304 or $406).

According to the company, this new bundle is aimed at customers who want to upgrade their experience from existing consoles like the Nintendo Wii or the Xbox 360.

“This bundle is for people looking to upgrade from Xbox 360 or Wii to the best platform on the market,” said Sony UK marketing director Alan Duncan via MCV. “And it could be for the family audience, or for someone buying for their boyfriends or their husbands. It is an entertainment solution for the whole home. We have got a lot of Move and family-based activity out there, but we felt it was also important to reassert the game credentials of the platform as well.”

This bundle is conceived as the most varied one of the market, and will take advantage of those who couldn’t get their holiday shopping done early.

"We think people are looking for that all encompassing family gift. We have much higher ambitions for this year than what we managed last year. We have the best offer on the market and we want to let people know about it. But not only that, it also reflects the market as it is at the moment, we think Christmas is happening later than ever because there is a lot of uncertainty out there.”

No word yet on if Sony will start expanding the reach of this great bundle, but it’s safe to say that, at least this year, UK customers who have yet to get a PS3 are in for a major deal.
