The CEO of Codemasters, the studio behind prestigious racing games like the DiRT series, Race Driver Grid or the new F1 2010, has just shared his insight on the recent Gran Turismo 5, one of the biggest racing games of all time, saying that while the game is pretty impressive, it lack the adrenaline rush of F1 2010.

Rod Cousens, the boss of Codemasters, shared his own view on the racing video game genre, saying that while Gran Turismo 5 will be a phenomenal product, it might seem boring to lots of people that don't expect a hardcore simulation.

"GT5 is going to be a phenomenal product, with the time and investment Sony have made in it," he said. "You can have a technically phenomenal game, but you can also have a game concept that doesn't really appeal [to some racing fans] and could be accused of - and you have to be careful how you write this - of being boring.

F1 2010 doesn't have such a problem, according to Coulens, as it delivers a great experience, with enough realism but also with plenty of adrenaline-filled moments.

"We don't have that problem. We feel the adrenaline rush that we'll always provide in F1 will not be matched by anyone else. You're going to have all the cars, all the tracks and all the worldwide locations - not to mention the best strategy, and the best damage, as far as we can. If you're an F1 fan, you don't need to go anywhere else for that."

This isn't the first time Gran Turismo 5 has been criticized by representatives of other racing series, as EA also mocked the new game, saying that the upcoming Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed will certainly outclass it, even if it won't have over 1,000 cars or 70 tracks, like the title developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony.

F1 2010 was released this September for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and earned a lot of praise for its intense gameplay and realistic recreation of the prestigious motorsport.
