Twitter reacts to Chris' performance, shows how deeply disturbed our culture is

Three years after beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna to a pulp, Chris Brown made what can only be described as a glorious comeback into the spotlight at Sunday's Grammy Awards 2012. Reactions to his performances are disturbing and very sad.

As we also informed you yesterday, Chris Brown performed twice during the festivities, once alone and once as part of a tribute to electronic dance music, with David Guetta, Lil Wayne, Foo Fighters and Deadmau5.

Each time, he was welcomed with wild applause and a standing ovation, which can only be interpreted as a clear sign that the industry has forgiven him for his violent temper and especially for his outburst towards Rihanna.

Reviews of both performances ranged from negative (too much Autotune and lip-sync) to good (he's a solid performer) and ecstatic.

These last ones came from die-hard female fans, especially on Twitter, and they basically said that Chris had been so wonderful that they would gladly have him beat them just so they could be with him.

Buzzfeed has summed up some of the most disturbing 25 such comments – and reading them is very unsettling, as it reveals the many ways in which society has failed us, voices online point out.

“I'd let Chris Brown beat me any day ;),” one woman says on Twitter.

“Chris Brown could serenade me and then punch me in the face. I'm down for it,” another writes on the same social networking site.

“Dude, Chris Brown can punch me in the face as much as wants to, just as long as he kisses it (:,” writes another woman.

Another goes as far as to say that Rihanna had no reason to “complain” about Brown, considering what an amazing dude he was. She probably forgets he did this to her.

While some say these women should get what they want so desperately, just to see that domestic abuse is not glamorous as they think it is, Prefix Mag points out that the fault here lies not with the women dreaming of being punched in the face by Chris, but with our society.

“For whatever reason, be it terrible parenting or just the awfulness of society (or both!), these Breezy fans apparently think it's OK to embrace the fact that he beat the [expletive] out of Rihanna,” the e-zine says.

“Hell, they're so cool with it that they would allow him to beat them up. Seriously. This is disgusting, inexecusable, and ... I have no more words,” says the same media outlet.
