Google announced on Wednesday that two new features had been added to the Google Mobile Application developed for BlackBerry smartphones. The owners of mobile phones made by Research in Motion will now be able to enjoy Search by voice and My Location along with the rest of the features that Google's application has to offer them.

One of the new features that are now available for Blackberry users is Search by voice, which allows them to activate it by pressing and holding the green call button on the main search screen of the Google application. When the feature is active, users will only need to utter the name of what they want to look for and Google will provide them with the results directly on their mobile phones.

With the second new feature that is now available with Google's application, My Location, the results of the search will only include matches in the user's current area. In case one needs to find a place fast and easy, this looks like a great solution to perform the search.

One interesting thing that Google points out when it comes to its new voice search technology is that using it would prove helpful with hard to spell words and names. Such an example would be London's Leicester Square, which is actually pronounced “lester” square. Considering the fact that an American BlackBerry user might not know the correct spelling for this name, Google knows it and will provide him or her with what he or she actually needs.

One more thing that should be mentioned here, as we are talking about both London and the Search by voice feature, is the fact that Google added in its application support for spoken British English.
