Activision has confirmed that it's going to release GoldenEye 007: Reloaded for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year, in the form of a new and improved version of last year's GoldenEye remake we saw appear on the Nintendo Wii.

GoldenEye 007 has been hailed as one of the best games from the 1990s, managing to amaze Nintendo 64 owners with its sharp controls and the innovative four-player cooperative splitscreen mode.

Activision re-released the game last year for the Nintendo Wii, trying to emulate on the cult appeal of GoldenEye 007, while it was also releasing full-pledged games, like Quantum of Solace or Blood Stone, by using the James Bond license it got from Metro Goldwyn Mayer.

Now, GoldenEye 007 is set to be released for the first time on consoles besides Nintendo ones, as Activision confirmed that GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is coming to the PlayStation 3, complete with support for the PlayStation Move peripheral, as well as to the Xbox 360.

"Built on a brand new engine that delivers striking visuals, blistering fast gameplay and the ability to play using the PlayStation Move with Sharp Shooter peripheral, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is the complete James Bond experience shooter-fans have been waiting for and will launch in stores later this fall," the company said.

“We are beyond ecstatic to debut GoldenEye 007: Reloaded to the millions of fans who have been clamoring for it to arrive on Sony and Microsoft home consoles,” said David Oxford, executive vice president at Activision Publishing. “And now with full PlayStation Move functionality, 007 fans all around the world can play the game in full HD in more ways than ever before.”

While PS3 owners can use the PlayStation Move with the game just as it is, Sony also highlights that the Sharp Shooter peripheral, which encases the Move in a gun-like casing, is ideal for the perfect experience.

GoldenEye 007: Reloaded features high-definition visuals, a solid 60 frames per second rate, and adds, besides the famous story campaign, brand new MI6 Ops Missions, which include new, distinct levels built around the ones from the campaign "that span the varied environments from the story and challenge players to complete different Assault, Elimination, Stealth and Defense objectives."

What's more, the multiplayer mode will once again support four players via splitscreen co-op, while an online versus mode, with support for up to 16 players, is also included, with new maps, weapons, characters and modes built for it.

Until this fall, when the game is released, fans can enjoy the screenshots and video trailer of GoldenEye 007: Reloaded below.
