The latest installment in the God of War series and the second one to appear on the PlayStation Portable, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, pushes the handheld device to its limits, using 100% of its power and abilities, according to its development studio, Ready at Dawn.

The first PSP iteration of the popular hack and slash series, God of War: Chains of Olympus, is widely considered to be on the of most stunning titles for the portable console, but the recently released Ghost of Sparta will blow it out of the water, according to Ready at Dawn co-founder Ru Weerasuriya.

According to him, the whole development process was set up to push the PSP to its limits and deliver the best experience to owners of the handheld device.

"It was about trying to push things on the PSP that it wasn't necessarily designed for, trying to exploit every single possible avenue the PSP provided for us."

According to the Ready at Dawn executive, the team used assets from the PlayStation 2 God of War games.

"A lot of things we've done you'd expect on PS2 or PS3. In fact, when we developed this game we did it as a God of War game, not a PSP game, it put us in a mind frame to make it look good."

"I think we have [pushed the PSP to its limits], we've looked in every single nook and cranny inside the PSP and tried to figure out what we can take out of it and at this point I think we've leveraged 100% of the power of the PSP."

God of War: Ghost of Sparta has just been launched on the PlayStation Network, so players can finally see the new portable adventures of main hero Kratos, as well as unlock various content for the PlayStation 3 title God of War III.
