The recent launch of the Pine Trail platform naturally set the stage for a variety of mobile computer releases, with companies like MSI, HP and Samsung itself, among others, outing, announcing or leaking information on the upcoming release of netbooks built with the Pineview Atom processor. Now, only about a week after the preview of its N150 and NB30 models, another netbook from Samsung surfaced on an online retailer. The device bears the name Samsung N220 and, similar to its predecessors, likely saw the light of day ahead of schedule, as the company has not made any official announcements.

According to Netbooked, the gadget was spotted on a French online retailer by the Netbook 3G website. The product is suspected to be planned for mass production along the same time as Samsung's other two models, specifically during the following month. The design seems to be a hybrid between its netbook design and that of its notebooks, making use of a Chiclet keyboard, a trackpad with two buttons, a six-cell battery and the company logo moved to the side of the lid.

The product obviously makes use of the Intel Atom N450 Pineview processor. It has the GMA 3150 graphics controller and a 10.1-inch matte screen capable of a maximum resolution of 1,024 x 600. The storage capacity is of 250GB but the random access memory (RAM) only amounts to 1GB. In addition, the Samsung N220 is equipped with the usual Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and even sports a 0.3MP webcam.

While most of these specifications may not be world shaking, what is interesting is that the listing suggested that the maximum battery life made possible by the netbook's six-cell battery is 11 hours and a half. Unfortunately, it is still unclear whether this will be made possible by power management features, such as an ECO mode, or whether the device can last that long in its base setup.

The 1.31kg model is currently known to come colored “Glossy green” and will run the Windows 7 Starter edition. The listed price was 349 Euros, although the listing seems to have been removed since then.
