Chinese company Gionee recently introduced its high-end Elife S7 in India where customers will be able to purchase it in the coming days for only Rs 24,999 ($400) outright.

Gionee is well known in Asian emerging markets for its cheap but decently specced Android smartphones so each release is very popular among consumers.

During the Elife S7's launch event in India, Gionee's president William Lu confirmed, and promised at the same time, that his company would also bring another high-end smartphone in the country, the Elife E8.

Gionee Elife E8 has been officially unveiled so all we know about the smartphone is based on some leaks coming from sources close to the matter.

Unlike the Elife E7 that packs a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, the Elife E8 will boast a much better 20-megapixel photo snapper which is rumored to offer OIS (optical image stabilization) among other functions.

Another improvement over the previous model will be the 5.7-6-inch display, as compared to 5.5-inch screen included in Elife E7.

Android 5.0 Lollipop and Snapdragon 801 processor

Also, Gionee Elife E8 might be packed with no less than 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of storage, which will be expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

In fact, rumor has it that Gionee will launch two Elife E8 versions: 32GB and 64GB. Obviously, they will be priced differently.

When it comes to CPU, things are looking good for Gionee, as their upcoming flagship smartphone is said to be equipped with a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2.2GHz.

Last but not least, the Elife E8 will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery, which is a consistent upgrade from Elife E7's 2,500 mAh battery.

The Elife E8 is expected to be initially launched in China, but Indian customers will be able to grab it beginning June, Gionee claims.
