Motorola DROID2 Global was expected to taste an OS upgrade on Verizon's airwaves soon after the release of DROID 3, but it seems that things might have been pushed back for a later date. While some of the previous rumors on the availability of this software update pointed at a release time frame that would coincide with the availability of the latest member of the DROID family, the latest actions that Verizon took seem to suggest a different thing.

Apparently, the mobile phone carrier has removed from its website the PDF file that informed us on the enhancements that Android 2.3 Gingerbread would bring to its DROID 2 Global devices.

The file was there a while ago, and was recently replaced with an older PDF, which describes another software update for the mobile phone.

When put side by side with a rumor that emerged last month on a possible delay in the release of Gingerbread for this device and for other handsets, it all seems to become clear: the update was indeed pushed back.

The one thing that remains shrouded in mystery at the moment is how long it would take before Motorola and Verizon will have it ready for deployment again.

Apparently, Motorola has had some issues with the Gingerbread update for its DROID devices, and this is the main reason for which they decided to delay the release.

The company is expected to try to resolve the issue on other DROID handsets at first, and will look upon the DROID 2 Global as well as soon as a solution for the problems emerges.

For the time being, however, nothing is officially confirmed on this. Of course, a formal announcement on the release time frame for Gingerbread on DROID 2 Global did not emerge either, but Motorola and Verizon will certainly unveil more on this as they are nearing the deployment window.
