Thanks to a series of leaked ROMs that have been spotted in the wild in the last couple of days, a brand new Android 2.3 Gingerbread HTC Sense ROM is now available for the T-Mobile G2.

Owners will be able to install GingerSense, a new HTC Sense UI running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile platform.

GingerSense is cooked up by the guys over at VillianRom, who are also known for delivering the first taste of Gingerbread on the G2.

GingerSense includes all the HTC Sense goodies, but as expected there are a couple of things that are not working yet. Depending on user needs, these problems might be critical or minor.

Currently, there are six known issues with the Sense ROM, which might be corrected in the future:

- Camcorder hangs when pressing record; - Bluetooth does not work; - HTC Hub fails to log in; - The “card” mail widget does not work; - Landscape mode in Sense is bugged (thanks to HTC for this), it is advised not to use this too often; - Question mark doesn't work on hardware keyboard. Users who wish to flash this ROM will need ClockworkMod 3.0 installed. This is a recovery image that is required in order to flash or wipe anything from an Android device. The tool is also capable of compiling android back-ups and wiping data and cache.

After the ClockworkMod 3.0 is installed, users will have to boot the phone into Fastboot mode and type “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img” from command prompt.

As an alternative, users can fastboot into ClockworkMod 2.X to revert to a Froyo backup and then install the .zip file from SD card, after previously performing a full data and cache wipe. The latter can be done by booting the phone in recovery mode.

Stay tuned for more updates of the Sense ROM, as the work progresses.
