Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the latest mobile operating system flavor that Google unveiled to the world, is set to become available for some of the already existing smartphones on the market in the not too far future, and HTC Desire HD, unveiled about a half a year ago, is among those who would taste it first. Proof of that comes from the fact that a leaked Android 2.3 ROM for the high-end mobile phone already made an appearance at XDA-Developers.

This ROM comes with HTC's latest Sense UI version as well, being capable to further enhance the experience that users would receive from it.

The said ROM, which comes from Team Revolution, is said to be working pretty well, with a series of improvements brought to the stock ROM added into the mix, but without visual changes applied.

According to the development team behind this ROM, users would enjoy updated stock applications when installing it, as well as full optimizations, the tweaks / changes incorporated from 1.72.405.3 based ROM, and more.

Some other enhancements should be included into the mix in the not too far future, so as to improve even more the user experience.

Even so, the software is pretty stable and fast enough to impress users, though it still needs some touches.

What should be noted here is that the ROM can be installed only on rooted devices, which means that those who would like to give it a try would void the warranty of their HTC Desire HD smartphones.

Considering the fact that HTC already promised the release of an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for all of its Desire devices, users might want to wait for the official ROM to be delivered to them before trying out this software.

However, in case those who would still want to go for it would find all the necessary info on it on this thread on the XDA-Developers forum. Just keep in mind that you would be doing this at your own risk.
