Ready at Dawn, the developer of the two God of War PSP games, the older Chains of Olympus and the recent Ghost of Sparta has just revealed that this will be last time Kratos, the main hero, will appear on Sony's handheld platform.

Ready at Dawn made a name for itself by releasing one of the most beautiful titles for the PSP, Chains of Olympus, a few years ago.

Now, after launching a follow-up to that in the form of Ghost of Sparta, which was just released on the PlayStation Network last week, developer Ready at Dawn is pretty confident that the handheld console won't see another iteration of the hack and slash franchise in the future.

When asked if Kratos, the main hero, will arrive once more on the PSP, Ready at Dawn co-founder Ru Weerasuriya had this to say:

"I don't know. As far as we're concerned as a team we're not going to do another one on the PSP. We just wanted to make sure that every time we make a game we push the limits of that hardware as much as possible."

Weerasuriya already revealed before the release of Ghost of Sparta that his team pushed the PSP to its limits in order to get the best experience possible.

"If we truly believe today that there could be more that could be done, maybe we'd approach one," he continued. But at this point having done what we have on the PSP for six or seven years we're at the point where we can look at the hardware and know 'this is as far as we can push it'.

"As far as we're concerned, we're not going to do another one on the PSP."

The PSP might soon be replaced by a more powerful device, the PSP2, which is currently being rumored by both developers and insiders.

The PSP2 might arrive at the end of 2011, and perhaps a new God of War portable game won't be too far behind.
