Ubisoft has unveiled two massive pieces of news about its long running Ghost Recon franchise, confirming that the multiplayer beta stage for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier starts later this month and that a companion service called Ghost Recon Network would also go live soon.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is awaited by quite a lot of shooter fans that want to once again try out their strategy skills and the variety of sci-fi gadgets included in the game.

As we get closer to its release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, in May, and on the PC, in June, Ubisoft has just unveiled some more details about it.

First up, there’s the fact that the multiplayer beta stage for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will kick off later this month, on April 19, and will end on May 2.

The beta will allow up to 12 people to play at the same time with three different classes (Rifleman, Engineer, or Scout) across two maps (Pipeline and Mill). Two gameplay modes, Conflict and Saboteur, are included in this stage.

Conflict: Players battle to complete objectives located throughout the map and earn points, the team with the most points at the end of the round wins. Game session: one round of 15 minutes.

Saboteur (available starting April 26th): A bomb spawns in a central location, both teams compete to retrieve the bomb and be the first to detonate it at the opposing team's base. Game session: one round of ten minutes.

The beta will go live on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. You can participate by either using the special codes bundled with Splinter Cell: Conviction or those gained by pre-ordering the actual Future Soldier title on the Xbox 360. PS3 users who have a PlayStation Plus subscription will also be able to participate.

What’s more, those who play the beta will get to try out the Ghost Recon Network online service, which will be a free companion service to Future Soldier once it’s released.

“Ghost Recon Network is a free companion service that will support all Ghost Recon titles moving forward. Accessible from smartphones, tablets, and web browsers, Ghost Recon Network will allow players to interact with Ghost Recon: Future Soldier & upcoming Ghost Recon games anywhere at any time,” the company said.
