Actor plans on faking his win

Even before he wrapped a plant in a towel and dangled it outside a balcony for the paparazzi outside, bringing to mind memories of a similar incident involving late singer Michael Jackson and his youngest son, Gerard Butler was known for his sense of humor. Therefore, it’s only understandable that he found something to complain about this year’s Oscars nominations, in particular, that the Academy could overlook him like this.

Speaking with NY Mag the Cosmopolitan Fun Fearless Male Awards, which also have him as one of the “winners” of this year, Butler says he should have been nominated for an Oscar as well. However, not all is lost, even though the Academy’s slip is quite unpardonable, for the gorgeous actor has come up with a plan to make it look like he won something too at the ceremony that will take place this Sunday.

“To be honest, I’m surprised I wasn’t nominated for an Oscar,” Gerard begins by saying, only to proceed to enumerate some of his films that saw the light of day in 2009. “I mean, did they see Ugly Truth? Did they see Gamer? But I have the honor of presenting at the Oscars, and I had this genius idea that I was going to record it on my DVR, and then just watch it backwards, and then I’m going to feel like I won. Who’s going to know the difference?” the star adds.

As we were also telling you the other day, Butler was included by Cosmopolitan magazine in its annual list of Fun Fearless Males, together with Kellan Lutz of “Twilight,” Terrell Owens, Seann William Scott, and many others. In doing so, the magazine honors Butler’s work in cinema both as actor and as producer (even though the Academy won’t just yet), but also his celebrity status. While he’s one of the most sought-after actors, Butler is also a tabloid darling for his allegedly very active love life; and somehow he still manages to keep his cool and stay above all this.

“Pick up any tabloid and you’re bound to read gossip about the scores of women Gerard Butler is supposedly dating. Of course, it’s just that: totally unfounded gossip. In reality, the talented Scottish actor is way too busy whipping out film after film. And looking at all his movies, it’s obvious that he’s not just gorgeous, but he’s also incredibly versatile. He’s played a warrior in 300, a womanizer in The Ugly Truth, and a tormented widower in Law Abiding Citizen (he produced it too!). In March, he stars as a hired agent who’s chasing his ex in The Bounty Hunter and lends his luscious voice to the animated flick How to Train Your Dragon,” Cosmopolitan writes in its latest issue.
