During George Michael’s most troubled times, it was Kenny Goss who stood by him, and loved and supported him no matter what. The two are no longer a couple, having broken up, as Michael puts it, almost two and a half years ago.

The revelation comes completely out of the blue since fans believed the two were still going strong as always.

When high-profile celebrities separate, the official announcement is usually preceded by tabloid reports – but there were none in this case.

More shocking is the singer’s admission that he and Kenny have not been together in a very long while. Admittedly, problems began to pile up when Kenny relapsed into alcoholism, the Huffington Post informs.

“George Michael says he has split from long-term partner Kenny Goss, partly due to the fallout from Goss’ struggle with alcohol addiction,” HuffPo says.

“The 48-year-old singer – appearing at the Prague State Opera House on the opening night of his ‘Symphonica’ tour – told the audience Monday ‘Kenny and I haven’t been together for two and a half years’,” the aforementioned publication writes.

Addressing the audience, George Michael said that, until that moment, he didn’t want fans to know the particulars of his personal life.

“My love life has been a lot more turbulent than I’ve let on,” he said, before dedicating a new song, “Where I Hope You Are” to his former lover.

“This man has brought me a lot of joy and a lot of pain,” Michael said. At least he doesn’t seem to have any hard feelings for Kenny, which could mean that the split was amicable.

On the same occasion, Michael also addressed the previous denials he’d issued to the press as regards rumors of a breakup.

He didn’t exactly apologize for lying, but he did admit to doing so by saying simply “It’s time to be honest.”
