Singer George Michael got in trouble with the law again the other night, when he crashed his car in a London store near his home, The Sun has learned. Details of the incident have not yet been made public but, as per reports, the singer was on his way home when it happened. He was detained over suspicion of being unfit to drive but no charges against him have yet been formulated.

George Michael has a long history of brush-offs with the police, both on drug-related allegations and getting behind the wheel when intoxicated. Almost a year ago, he was involved in a car crash that was believed to have occurred for the latter reason, but he was never officially charged with anything. Before that, Michael had been arrested a couple of times for possession, DUI and other inappropriate behavior, as fans must know.

“The troubled singer, 47, was held on suspicion of being unfit to drive after he lost control of his Range Rover and it smashed into a Snappy Snaps. The impact buckled a door frame and shattered windows at the photo store in posh Hampstead, North London – near the star’s home. The singer – who only last year ended a two-year ban for drug driving – was held at 3.35am on Sunday after London’s Gay Pride parade,” The Sun writes, citing sources with the police and eyewitnesses.

A rep for Scotland Yard confirms for AceShowbiz that a crash did take place as reported, and that a man was detained for questioning and then released. He does not, however, reveal the name of the person, as is customary in this type of situations. “Police were called at approximately 3.30am on Sunday to reports of a vehicle in collision with a building. Officers attended and a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive. He was taken to a North London police station and later bailed to return during August pending inquiries,” the official statement says.

George Michael was not immediately available for comment when the British media tried to contact him. Nevertheless, more details on this should emerge soon, so keep an eye on this space for when they do.
