There are quite a lot of aspiring DJs out there, and in order to provide them with a tool that will enable them to get accustomed to what mixing is all about, Gemini has just released their FirstMix USB DJ Controller.

The device in question works in a fairly simple manner, namely by connecting via USB to a computer running one of the supported DJ-ing software applications, such as the MixVibes CROSS LE, Traktor, Virtual DJ and Algoriddim’s DJAY.

The FirstMix sports two decks, plus a mixer with crossfader, and although would-be DJs won't be using any physical discs for playing music, they'll sure be able to do some scratching on the music files stored onto their computers.

And since we've reached this topic, it's also interesting to point out that the FirstMix USB DJ Controller lets one employ their own digital music library with support for M4A, AIFF, WAV, MP3, FLAC and OGG audio files.

The device also comes equipped with volume, 2-band EQ, effects, and jog wheel controllers for each deck, thus enabling users to really recreate the club atmosphere wherever they might be (and, of course, if they have enough DJ-ing skills).

“We took many of the best features from our Gemini professional DJ products and integrated them into FirstMix for anyone who is interested in a fun and easy way to get started in digital DJ,” says Mark Wilder, Vice President of Marketing for GCI Technologies, who also added that “FirstMix lets you ‘scratch’ right out of the box and gives you the tools you need to put together a great party mix.”

Luckily, customers won't have to pay too much for the FirstMix DJ controllers, given the fact that this accessory has been priced at $79.95, when it becomes available through musical instruments, electronics, and DJ retailers in May, 2011.
