Even if Epic assures us of the game's arrival on the PC, it will not be happening very soon

Ground braking news, no questioning that, but wasn't it obvious? Microsoft owns both the Xbox 360 platform and most of the PC's one on this nice planet of ours, so it wasn't really a question of "if" the game was to be ported on to the PC, but rather a question of "when" Epic was to consider this a possibility. Well, no more mystery, it's official: it's gonna happen, but when?

"The big challenge is to make a game that was designed solely for the console, to take advantage of every last little corner of that console, to fill every little crack and run as many threads as we could and do as much to exploit the power of that machine, and make it run well on enough PCs to be worth releasing. That's a challenge," said Epic's Mark Rein to folks at Team Xbox.

Epic emphasized the importance of cover, in releasing their game for the 360 and a higher difficulty level-in a game where being exposed to enemy fire for only a few seconds can result in sudden death. It's what fans want and Epic met their demand. Meanwhile, behind cover players can choose to aim carefully with their weapons or use blind-fire to avoid subsequent damage from showing their heads from behind cover. This exact feature should prove very PC friendly and this is only one of the reasons why gamers would love to have Epic's title on their hard drives.

On the other hand, if Gears of War is to hit the PC platform eventually, serious tailoring regarding graphics, camera control and gameplay are in the scope, not to mention a whole rethinking of the multiplayer mode, so Gears of War on the PC is not happening very soon, but it's good to know that Epic is considering what everyone was hoping for.
