Gears of War: Judgment, the next game in the series that in many ways made the fortunes of Epic Games, will test the players’ skills on every mode and will ask them to make an effort in order to complete levels and see the end of the game.

Cliff Bleszinski, who is the public face of the Gears of War franchise, has told Xbox360Achievements that, “The more I play games like that the more I turned off to them and just want to get back to systems interacting with systems.

“When was the last time a game really challenged you and asked something of you, right? There’s a reason why Demon Souls and Dark Souls have taken off lately. It’s because they really require you actually try.”

When it comes to Judgment, the developer says that, “Casual mode will still be casual, whatever, if you just want to see graphics and you don’t want to die, but every other mode will be hard in this game and you will die. If this game doesn’t make you sweat, we haven’t done our jobs.”

Judgment is a prequel to the three core games in the series and will star Baird as the main character and a new cast will be introduced to help him through his adventure.

The game will also expand the cooperative aspect of the Gears of War franchise and the team plans to introduce more options and tactical possibilities.

Gears of War: Judgment will be launched exclusively on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft on September 20 of this year.

It is widely expected to be the last game in the series linked to the current generation of hardware, with a team at developer Epic Games already working with Microsoft on a Gears of War game for the much-rumored but yet-unrevealed Xbox 720.
