Formula 1 simulation manages to capture second place

Gears of War 3, the third person shooter from developer Epic Games and publisher Microsoft, has managed to take over the number one position in the United Kingdom weekly video game sales chart during its first week on sale.

The third installment in the series which is exclusive to the Xbox 360 home console has been praised for the non-stop action and even for its story, which has not been strong point for the series until now.

Another new entry, F1 2011 from Codemasters, has managed to s,lot itself in second spot on the United Kingdom grid, delivering the only Formula 1 simulation in the industry just as the season reaches its final races.

Former number one Dead Island from Deep Silver has not given up the fight completely and has managed to only slide down two places to third place, showing how zombie combat on a paradise island can capture the imagination of gamers.

Zumba Fitness, a game published by 505 Games, has managed to climb back to fourth place coming from sixth, showing that it still has some fans after dominating the sales chart for much of the summer season.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the mix between action and role playing from Eidos Montreal and Square Enix, has kept its position in fifth spot, as gamers are awaiting the launch of the Missing Link downloadable content package.

Driver: San Francisco, the body shifting racing game from Ubisoft, has slowed down and came in in sixth place, after occupying fourth last week, while Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine from Relic and THQ has seen the biggest drop of the seven day period, landing in seventh with a thumb after sitting in second place.

Resistance 3 has also come down hard, coming in at number 8 after sitting on the podium, while LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean from Disney in in ninth.

Rugby World Cup 2011 closes down the top ten.
