The developers at Eidos Montreal have announced that the new boss battle included in the Missing Link downloadable content for Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been designed entirely by the studio and allows the player a number of choices on how to deal with their enemy.

Marc-Andre Dufort, who is the main producer working on The Missing Link downlodable content, has told Eurogamer that, “We have a boss battle at the end, but it’s different from the main game boss battles. You can actually not kill the boss. You can do a non lethal takedown on him. And you can kill him from afar. You can even kill him without him seeing you. It’s more of a bigger challenge than a standard boss fight like we have in many games.”

He added, “Everything was done in Montreal at Eidos. It’s a lot less frustrating. But it depends on the way you play. If you played more combat in the main game, you probably didn’t have any trouble dealing with the boss fights. So we allow the adaptation of the way you play for that particular boss fight.”

When Human Revolution was first launch a number of reviewers talked about the lackluster design of the boss battles, which seemed to be very different from the rest of the game experience.

The game offered a number of options for dealing with almost every situation but when it came to bosses the player was forced to take them on using brute force and then kill them at the end of the encounter.

It was then revealed that this section of the game was sourced out to another development team.

The team at Eidos Montreal has announced that it plans to launch more content for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, although it has not confirmed what kind of experiences it might create.
