South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has just announced the availability of its first Android-based tablet PC, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, on the market in India. Starting with November 10, users in the country would be able to purchase the new device for Rs. 38,000 (around $830).

While hitting stores on November 10th, the Android 2.2 Froyo -based tablet PC is already available for pre-order for those interested in securing one unit before the official launch.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 comes to shelves with a 7-inch touchscreen display that boasts a WSVGA (1024 x 600 pixels) resolution, as well as a Cortex A8 1.0GHz Application Processor with PowerVR SGX540 (with support for enhanced multimedia features).

The specifications list of the new device also includes support for 3G networks, as well as WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 capabilities, or a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back, complemented by a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calling.

Since it is powered by Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, the tablet PC also comes with support for Adobe Flash 10.1, as well as with fast access to the Android Market, from where users would find a wide range of applications available for download.

The new Android-based device also comes with 16GB / 32GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of external storage space.

Other specs of Galaxy Tab also include: Gyroscope sensor, Geo-magnetic sensor, Accelerometer, Light sensor, 30 pin connector, and 512 MB of RAM.

The device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery (it can deliver up to 7 hours of movie play), measures 190.09 x 120.45 x 11.98mm and weighs in at 380 grams.

All in all, the Samsung Galaxy Tab seems to be a great option for those looking for enhanced connectivity options while on the go. The tablet can be pre-order from Samsung's website here.
