South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is known to plan the near launch of a new tablet PC, one that would sport an 8.9-inch touchscreen display, and some more info on the matter started to emerge.

First of all, we should note that the device has just made it in a new video teaser, which, although does not specifically confirm the existence of a 8.9 Galaxy Tab, does include a series of hits that were seen before into the wild.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is expected to make an official appearance at a Samsung Unpacked event set for March 22 at CTIA 2011, and the new video is meant to remind us of that.

The device itself appears in the video, though only from side and back, and there's no telling on how it would look like on the front, though it might not be too different from the already released Tab models.

From what can be seen in the video embedded at the bottom of this article (via Android Community), the next flavor of Galaxy tab might not be as thin as initially expected, which might prove a disappointment for enthusiasts, especially since the device would compete directly with Apple's this iPad 2.

“Were you excited about the introduction of our GALAXY Tab 10.1 at 2011 Mobile World Congress? If so, join us for more surprises at SAMSUNG MOB!LE UNPACKED on March 22nd, 2011 in Orlando, Florida, US,” the description of the video reads.

Specific info on what the device would include beside the fact that it might arrive with the said 8.9-inch display lacks at the moment, but the video shows it would sport a camera on the back. Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS should be included into the mix as well.

However, it seems that it might not be too long before the new tablet PC arrives on shelves, at least this is what a leaked roadmap from Staples, which emerged over at droid-life, shows.

The device has a coming soon tag attached to it on that roadmap, and the same applies to a series of other Honeycomb-based tablet PCs as well.

The wifi-only Motorola XOOM is listed there too, set to arrive in April with a price tag of $599 attached to it.

As stated above, Samsung is expected to announce the new Galaxy Tab 8.9 next week, so keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
