South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics seems set to launch a new GALAXY Tab device in the near future, one that would sport a screen size somewhere between the already made official Tab devices.

We're referring here to the GALAXY Tab 8.9 tablet PC, rumored to feature an 8.9-inch screen, which should be officially announced in about three weeks from now, it seems.

The mobile phone maker announced via its Samsung Unpacked website an event set to take place on March 22nd, and there are great chances that the new device would be unveiled at that time.

“Were you excited about the introduction of our GALAXY Tab 10.1 at 2011 Mobile World Congress? If you so, we've got more surprises in store at our UNPACKED event on 3/22,” the company announced via its Facebook account.

Those who would head over to the aforementioned page on Samsung Unpacked would learn that the handset vendor is planning the unveiling of “something big” at that time. The unveiling will be made during the CTIA Wireless conference.

Moreover, the page displays the number 78910, which might be seen as pointing at the different screen sizes that GALAXY Tab tablets would sport: 7”, 8.9', and 10.1”.

In all fairness, since nothing was officially confirmed on the availability of a new tablet PC from Samsung, we should take this with a grain of salt, but there is a great chance that it would all turn out this way, that's for sure.

The first GALAXY Tab device arrived on shelves last year with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board, and is currently available in most markets around the world.

The GALAXY Tab 10.1 was announced at MWC 2011 and should be released in Europe soon on Vodafone's airwaves with Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform on board.

Specific info on the upcoming 8.9-inch tablet PC lack at the moment, but more should emerge in the not too far future, so stay tuned to learn the news.
