Samsung Galaxy S, one of the most popular mobile phones that arrived on shelves last year, has just got an update to Android 2.2 Froyo in Australia, on the airwaves of wireless carrier Telstra. The Android 2.2 OS flavor has started to arrive on Galaxy S devices around the world late last year, when Samsung has finally managed to release it to its customers.

Ever since, wireless carriers around the world deployed the new OS flavor for their Galaxy S devices, and it seems that Telstra has just made the software available for its customers as well (via Ausdroid).

In all fairness, it took the wireless carrier a few months to make the move, but things are finally moving on the right path for its users.

The same as with any other Galaxy S devices out there, the update would be performed via the Samsung Kies application.

Along with the arrival of Android 2.2, users would enjoy increased performance speeds on their devices, due to the JIT(Just in Time) compiler included with the platform.

Some of the main improvements that the new OS flavor would bring into the mix include:

- Google Maps with Navigation: GPS navigation system with voice guidance - Adobe Flash Player 10.1: Allow the web browser to make full use of the whole web - Setup Wizard: Quickly customize the GALAXY S and access networks with ease - Home Screen/Menu Preview and Edit : Preview by pinch-zoom - Search in-Browser : Google, Translate, Wikipedia, Dictionary Along with these, some other enhancements might have been included in the package as well, so as to offer a better experience to all Galaxy S users on the wireless carrier's network.

Those Galaxy S users on Telstra's network in Australia who haven't yet rooted their devices to install a new unofficial OS flavor, since many of those are already available for them, should download Samsung Kies to their PC, fire it up, connect the handset to the computer, and give the new OS flavor a try.

Samsung Kies is available for download from Softpedia too, via this link.
