That didn't take long at all. After 70 days of availability on the South Korean market, the Samsung Galaxy S managed to top 1 million device sold, proving that it indeed is the fastest selling handset in the country.

The Samsung Galaxy S device (SHW-M110S) has proved highly appealing on the market ever since its official launch of the South Korean market.

According to the latest news on this, the Galaxy S is selling at a rate of around one at every six seconds, something that seems pretty impressing for a small country as South Korea.

As previous reports on it suggested, Galaxy S managed to out sell the iPhone 3GS pretty fast, most probably helped by the fact that Samsung is a local phone maker, but also courtesy of Google's Android operating system loaded on it.

However, if South Korea is not the market you would like to look at when analyzing this handset's sales, then we should mention that US mobile phone users were also highly attracted by this device.

Available via two carriers in the country, namely T-Mobile and AT&T, the Samsung Galaxy S was sold in more than 1 million units in only 45 days on the United States market.

And that was only the beginning, it seems, as it is set to land at more operators in the near future, after a special version was launched on Sprint's airwaves on Tuesday.

For comparison, the iPhone 3GS needed more than 8 months to top 800k in sales in South Korea, while Galaxy S reached that milestone in 55 days.

With a 4-inch Super AMOLED display and that 1GHz CPU, it's no wonder people feel attracted to this device, especially since it also comes with a 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, and more.

Even so, there are chances that the new iPhone 4 model would prove a great competitor against Samsung's flagship device on the local market when it becomes available later this month.
