Introduced by T-Mobile about two weeks ago, Samsung Galaxy S 4G has just made its appearance on the carrier's “Coming Soon” page, which means that the device is very close to becoming available for purchase.

There's still no information regarding the phone's price, but Wal-Mart reported earlier that it will retail the smartphone for $148.88 with a new 2-year service agreement.

Even though the outlet is known for cutting “a few cents” from the general price just to attract customers, T-Mobile's price tag for Galaxy S 4G should not be far away from these figures.

Furthermore, Wal-Mart is also expected to sell the device for $248.88 with a 2-year Flexpay agreement or $650.00 without contract.

It seems that rumors point to a February 23rd release date for the Galaxy S 4G Android-based smartphone.

The Galaxy S 4G is powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 (Hummingbird platform) and runs Android 2.2 Froyo, which is a little bit odd, as Android 2.3 Gingerbread has already been around for some time.

The device comes with a large 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors, 480 x 800 pixels resolution, Gorilla Glass protective display, TouchWiz 3.0 UI, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor for auto turn-off, as well as Swype text input.

Other key features of the smartphone include HSDPA 21 Mbps, HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, DLNA function, 1GB ROM, 512 MB RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 16GB card included),

It also packs a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, touch focus, face, smile detection and camcorder (720p@30fps), as well as integrated GPS with A-GPS support.

As the carrier suggests, it seems that Galaxy S 4G will be one of the fastest smartphones in North America, capable of delivering peak download speeds of up to 21Mbps on T-Mobile's HSPA network.
