The new Android 2.2 Froyo operating system is now available for download for more Samsung Galaxy S mobile phones in Canada, including those on the airwaves of wireless carriers TELUS (the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate), as well as Virgin and SaskTel (the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant). The release comes only a few weeks after Samsung announced that it was hard at work with making the software update available for its Galaxy S users before the end of the ongoing year.

The software "is currently being tested and we are working on a release for later in December 2010," the company said at the time, though the initial plans were somehow different.

Initially expected to be released only in early 2011 for some of the Galaxy S models that are on sale in Canada, the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system version can now be downloaded for the aforementioned handsets.

As a recent article on MobileSyrup notes, all the necessary info on this update are available on Samsung’s website here. Those who would like to download it should first install the Samsung Kies application on their Windows PCs (download link available below).

Some of the main enhancements that this update brings to Galaxy S devices include:

Adobe Flash Player 10.1 – for a better web browsing experience Faster Performance – faster website loading and device navigation Better for Business – with enhanced exchange integration and new security features

On Galaxy S, the enhancements included in the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system should result in turning a highly appealing device into an even more appealing one.

Samsung started the roll-out of this software update for its Galaxy S devices a few months ago, but there still are some models that did not receive the solution as of yet.

As stated above, the update is available for download via the Samsung Kies tool, which is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, and which can be downloaded from Softpedia too, via this link.

All of the necessary installation instructions are available on Samsung’s website here, both for the Kies application, and for the Android 2.2 Froyo platform.
