Last month, Google and Samsung announced the release of a new smartphone in the popular Nexus series, namely the Galaxy Nexus, which should be released on shelves in various markets around the world in the near future, Canada included, it seems.

On the special page put up on Google's website for this device, users can see Canada among the countries on the coming soon list, which suggests that it should not be too long before the device makes an official appearance in the country.

Galaxy Nexus is expected to become available for purchase starting with November 17th in a series of countries in EMEIA, such as the UK, and should hit shelves in more areas soon after.

In the United States, for example, the device is expected to be put up for sale at wireless carrier Verizon starting with November 21st, although no official announcement on the matter was made for the time being.

While there's no telling on when the handset might be launched in Canada, MobileSyrup suggests that major wireless carriers in the country might be set to add it to their offering.

The smartphone should be released in the coming weeks at wireless carriers such as Rogers, Bell or TELUS, and might become available unlocked as well, via major retailers in the country.

One way or the other, the Ice Cream Sandwich device will soon land in users' hands in Canada, bringing along the large 4.65-inch screen it was packed with, as well as the powerful 1.2GHz application processor it features inside.

The mobile phone also comes with 32GB of internal memory, as well as with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back with support for HD video recording, and a front facing camera for video calling.

The mobile phone also arrives on shelves with 3G support, as well as with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, and with support for LTE networks, depending on the market.
