Leaked two weeks ago as Galaxy S Mini, the Galaxy Ace is close to an official announcement as the device has just made its appearance on the Samsung Indonesia website.

Even though most of the spec sheet of the device is already known, this comes as a confirmation of the unofficial information that had been available so far.

Furthermore, it is interesting to notice that the smartphone does not come with an AMOLED display, instead it embeds a 3.5-inch HVGA touch screen with 320 × 480 pixels resolution.

It seems that Samsung Indonesia has not given specific info on the phone's CPU, but rumors point to a Qualcomm MSM7227 800 MHz processor.

Samsung Galaxy Ace, also known as Cooper, runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) stock platform and it will feature quad-band GSM support (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900), as well as HSDPA dual-band support (900 / 2100 MHz).

Other features revealed on the official Samsung website include: HSDPA 7.2Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, GPS with A-GPS support, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording capabilities (320 x 240), Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, Social Hub, Swype keyboard, Stereo FM Radio with RDS, 156 MB user memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Samsung S8530 Galaxy Ace is powered by a standard Li-Ion 1350 mAh battery, rated by the manufacturer for up to 640 hours (420 hours for 3G) of standby time or 11 hours (6 hours 30 minutes for 3G) of talk time.

By the look of it, the Galaxy Ace is a low-budget Android smartphone, which will probably compete with LG's Optimus One.

Apparently, Samsung plans to release more “mini” versions for some of its most popular handsets, but there's no telling which and how many of these devices will be “re-sized.”

Information regarding the phone's price and release date hasn't been revealed yet, but it's likely that we will see this one showcased at the 2011 Mobile World Congress.

Starting on February 14, we will be there to keep you up to date with live reports on the latest product launches and presentations.
