Not impressive at all...

This may be a huge rumor, a joke or just someone's works with the aid of Photoshop, but the covers you can see on the left side of the article seem to be the genuine ones. The XboxFamily website seemingly received a couple of dummy GTA IV boxes, both for the PS3 and the 360. Three versions of the cover are now available, but Rockstar claims that we'll see a fourth one soon enough.

I for one would much rather enjoy that standard GTA IV logo, on a black background... So, we've got a mobster, a sniper and a hot girl right now, which practically means nothing new. Some gamers were guessing that the sniper may be the protagonist of the game, or it might be mobster...Obviously, it isn't going to be the woman, because no GTA title so far allowed you to control a female character, as strange as it seems. After all, who cares about box arts, as along as the main asset of a game is right beneath the cover, written on a shiny new DVD.

No one ever mentioned the fact that some of the most vivid covers are those of the PS2 games, specially those fighting titles that feature most main characters on the front side of the box. And what about major blockbusters like Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy? Their covers are basically made out of the name of the game, written in huge letters and some fading image that really doesn't say anything about the storyline, characters or graphics.

Turns out that in the XXI century we shouldn't judge a game by its cover... The best example are those games that feature busty "gals" on the front of the box and only manage to deliver a mediocre action experience. Oops! Just realized that GTA IV also features a busty girl... Could this be a sign of the trouble to come?
