Earlier today, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile officially announced the upcoming availability of a new smartphone in its Xperia lineup, namely the Xperia M, which will be launched in a dual-SIM flavor as well, dubbed Xperia M dual.

Both versions of the mobile phone will become available for purchase in the third quarter of the year, yet users can learn more on the device’s hardware specifications now, while also having a look at more photos with it.

Packing a 4-inch TFT touchscreen display capable of delivering an 854x480 pixels, the new Xperia M smartphone arrives on shelves with a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8227 processor inside, as well as 1GB of RAM.

The handset was also built with 4 GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Furthermore, it sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with LED flash, auto focus, Sony Exmor RS for mobile image sensor and support for HD video recording, as well as a front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The specifications list of the handset also includes Adreno 305 GPU, ClearAudio+, xLOUD and 3D Surround Sound (VPT), FM Radio, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, aGPS, 3.5 mm audio jack (CTIA) and Micro USB port.

The new smartphone is also DLNA and PlayStation Certified, offers support for Sony Entertainment Network in selected markets, and features synchronization via Exchange ActiveSync, Google Sync and Facebook.

Sony also packed the device with one-touch functions with NFC and screen mirroring, Battery STAMINA Mode, “WALKMAN,” Album and Movies apps, Xperia Link, and the usual set of Google apps, such as Play store, Chrome, Voice Search, and Maps for Mobile with Street view and Latitude.

Sony’s new Xperia M runs under Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, though the dual-SIM Xperia M dual flavor is powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, it seems.

The single-SIM Xperia M model is set to hit shelves in Black, White, Purple, and Yellow, while the dual-SIM variant will be released in Black, White, and Purple.
