Today, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile officially announced a new member of the Xperia family, namely the Xperia M, which is set to land on shelves with Sony’s innovative one-touch functions, capable of delivering effortless connectivity, and signature premium design.

The new device was made official with Sony’s now familiar OmniBalance design, which was introduced when the flagship Xperia Z became official in January, and will hit shelves in both single and dual-SIM flavors.

The handset comes with a seamless look that is both tactile and sleek, while packing color-changing illuminations that can be easily customized to alert users on incoming calls, text messages and alarms.

The Xperia M was built so as to bring Sony experiences to more users, at new price points, including NFC connectivity, an appealing design, and a range of technologies such as high-quality screen, smart camera functionality, Battery STAMINA Mode, and Sony’s signature media apps.

“Consumers looking for their first steps into the world of Xperia smartphones, would be well-advised to look at Xperia M or Xperia M dual,” said Calum MacDougall, director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications.

“Both models benefit from Sony’s proven innovation and engineering expertise, and are perfect for those who want the premium technology and experiences often only associated with high-end models.”

The specifications list of the new mobile phone includes a 4” FWVGA touchscreen display, a dual-core processor, and a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

Both Xperia M and Xperia M dual are set to become available for purchase starting with the third quarter of the year in Black, White and Purple, Sony announced, adding that the single-SIM model will be available in Yellow too.

“The Dual SIM variant Xperia M dual lets users select between two SIMs before making a call or sending a message with just a single click. Each SIM card can also be customized separately – for example, a formal ring for business or another tune for pleasure – perfect when users want to separate work from play, and handle calls more efficiently,” Sony announced.
