Toshiba G920, the future handset from the Japanese manufacturer, has been approved by FCC about two weeks ago and now its full specifications are revealed. Part of the Portege handset family, G290 is a tri-band GSM device (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with UMTS2100 connectivity. It supports GPRS, EDGE, CSD and HSDPA data transfers, hence enabling high speed downloads.

The handset measures 115 x 74 x 22 millimeters, runs on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional and is powered by a 520 MHz processor. It comes with 256 MB of ROM and 128 MB of RAM and offers a 3 inch 64K color Touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 ? 480 pixels - only few handsets can provide such a wide screen. The built-in GPS receiver will surely make many users happy, while the integrated 3.1 Megapixel camera with Mobile light (LED) will offer good quality pictures. Other nice features include a QWERTY keyboard with 43 keys, Wi-fi, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and miniSD card support.

Maybe the aspect that Toshiba should have worked on more is the design of G920, far from being an extraordinary one. The device is also a bit too big, but that's understandable if we think about the huge display it packs. Other than that, the handset is clearly a high-end one and it can prove to be perfect for users who are not so keen on the design and dimensions of their handset but care more about functionality.

Apparently, a Toshiba G910 will be released too, but not before G920. Which is kind of weird, since the G910's specifications are exactly the same as the ones that G920 brings, except the GPS capabilities, not included in the G910. Furthermore, the Tokyo-based company will enlarge the Portege handset family with the release of Toshiba G450, Toshiba G710, Toshiba G720 and Toshiba G930, all to come during 2008. Until then, we're waiting for Toshiba G920, which should hit the market in March 2008.
