Harmonix and MTV Games, the two companies that are in charge of the Rock Band franchise, have announced that this week music lovers will be receiving, as downloadable content, the second solo album from John Lennon, “Imagine”, launched in 1971 and widely seen to contain his best solo efforts.

The tracks included are:

“Crippled Inside” “Jealous Guy” “It's So Hard” “I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier Mama” “Gimme Some Truth” “Oh My Love” “How Do You Sleep?” “How?” “Oh Yoko!”

The track “Imagine” itself has already been included on the game disk of Rock Band 3.

All the nine tracks can be downloaded separately for 160 Microsoft Points, 200 Wii Points or 1.99 dollars on the PlayStation 3.

The entire package can be obtained for 1200 Microsoft Points, 1500 Wii Points or 14.99 dollars, which means that it's a good deal for the music fan who wants the entire album.

“How Do You Sleep?” also has Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades, which can be obtained for the new usual 0.99 dollars.

Harmonix has said that all the content it will put out on its online store will now be geared towards Rock Band 3, aiming to take advantage of the keyboard simulation options offered by the newest title in the series and delivering songs which also have upgrades for Pro modes.

Rock Band 3 aims to allow gamers not just to have fun playing their favorite songs on fake instruments but actually teach them a little about how to play an instrument in the real world, via the Pro modes.

Recently parent company Viacom has said that Harmonix is for sale and that there are several companies which have expressed an interest in the creator of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises.
