A new ruggedized smartphone is on its way to the market on Verizon Wireless' airwaves, the Casio G'zOne Commando, with a Gorilla Glass display on board, and with resistance to water, shock, and dust.

The smartphone has been spotted at large before, in a leaked Verizon roadmap, when it was rumored to had been slated for an April 7th launch, but it seems that the actual launch of the device is nearing only now.

The Casio G'zOne Commando is expected arrive on shelves with Google's Android operating system on board and with appealing hardware specs packed inside, as the leaked Verizon market materials that emerged over at Pocketnow show.

Photos with the upcoming smartphone are also available, showing a tough-looking device, with a pretty large touchscreen display, which should be able to deliver a 480 x 800 pixel (WVGA) resolution.

Moreover, the new device is said to pack an 800MHz processor beneath that 3.6-inch screen, complemented by 512MB of RAM, with a 5-megapixel photo snapper attached to its back.

Moreover, the Casio's G'zOne Commando is expected to arrive on shelves with a microSD memory card slot with support for memory cards of up to 32GB, and with built-in GPS receiver.

Among the applications that Verizon would load on the new device, we can count VZ Navigator, V CAST Music and V CAST Video, G'zGEAR software, BlockBuster, or YouTube.

Not to mention that it would feature thermometer, pedometer, and digital compass, great options for outdoor enthusiasts.

The mobile phone should land with a battery capable of delivering up to 450 minutes of usage time, which is not that impressive, but which should do the job.
