Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has just announced the upcoming availability on its airwaves of a new handset, the CASIO G’zOne Ravine. The new handset comes with dust-, water- and shock-resistance, proving a great option for those who work outdoors.

According to the wireless carrier, the new device comes with all the popular features of all G’zOne phones in a new form factor.

In addition to withstanding various environments, including surfing, skiing, hiking, climbing, or hunting, the new device also comes with Push to Talk capabilities for fast two-way communication.

Some of the main features of the new mobile phone include a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities and LED flash, as well as Text-to-Speech and Voice Dictation for hands-free texting.

Moreover, the new handset includes Clear Talk noise cancellation for superior sound quality, Voice recorder, and VZ Navigator capabilities for turn-by-turn directions.

A great deal of messaging options have been also included into the mix, such as Mobile IM; Mobile Chat; Mobile Email; and Mobile Web, for text, picture, video and voice messaging.

The CASIO G’zOne Ravine also sports G’zGear software for those who enjoy an active, adventure-driven lifestyle.

Through G’zGear, users receive seven pre-installed apps for outdoor activities:

- Earth Compass – Functions as a standard compass, while the GPS shows the distance and direction to over 33 domestic and international landmarks - Walking Counter – Measures steps, distance and energy consumption by the user - Thermometer – Displays current temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit - Tides – Shows the tidal graph for the day, the time of tide ebb and flow, current, past and future sea tide levels, optimal fishing times, GPS displays nearest location - Sunrise Sunset – Highlights the position of the sun at the current time, sunrise and sunset times for current, past and future dates, sunrise and sunset times for select major cities, as well as the ratio of day to night in numbers and graphs - Astro Calendar – Illustrates the moon’s face graphically, shows the moon’s age and days until a full or new moon - Star Gazer – Displays the stars in the sky and names the constellations based on the current season and time using GPS

The CASIO G’zOne Ravine is expected to be priced at $149.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier and after a $50.00 mail-in rebate.

The handset should be put on sale at Verizon Wireless via all channels, including Verizon Wireless Communications Stores or online on the carrier's website.
