As already mentioned in several of our previous posts, quite a significant number of new netbooks are set to drop this autumn, coming from a several manufacturers, including Fujitsu. Despite not being yet out there, the company's Amilo Mini has been caught on camera and the video was uploaded on the Internet, as we reported two weeks ago. Since then, new rumors have surfaced and they all seem to indicate that we are getting close to the official release.

The Amilo Mini is expected to compete, aside from with all the other netboobk products currently available on the market, with ASUS' vast Eee PC lineup in particular. Just like most Eee PCs, the Amilo Mini will also be powered by the already famous Intel Atom processor, running at a decent 1.6 GHz. Unfortunately, the technical details for it are rather scarce, as the company is yet to let out any type of official information. Still, according to rumors, it will likely boast 1GB of RAM and come with a pre-installed Windows XP Home edition.

According to recent reports, Fujitsu will bring a sample of its small sized Amilo netbook at this year's IFA, one of the largest consumer electronics trade fairs, which will be held in Berlin between August 29 and September 3. The rumors are based on the marketing potential of the IFA show, which is said to gather more than 6,600 accredited journalists from 62 countries. Apparently, Fujitsu-Siemens will try to take full advantage of the media exposure.

Unfortunately, it is yet uncertain when the netbooks will hit stores, but voices in the industry seem to believe that we'll be dealing with a price tag of over $550 upon release.

Fujitsu will have to provide a very competitive product, since it is poised to take on that of a great number of major manufacturers, including Dell, HP and Lenovo. Unlike the last two, Dell is yet to unveil its Atom-powered netbook.
