Apple notifies iPhone 4 buyers of shipping Bumper cases

UK customers are reporting that Apple has started shipping free Bumpers, as promised. iPhone 4 owners are being notified by email that their protective case on its way to them, while those who had already purchased a Bumper are now being refunded.

Last week, Softpedia reported that Apple had started to issue refunds to buyers of a Bumper case, in accordance with the company’s July 16 announcement that free Bumpers or third party cases would be given out to all iPhone 4 owners, upon request. According to a screenshot posted by 9to5Mac, Apple notified customers of the refund program, saying “Apple recently announced that iPhone 4 customers who purchased an iPhone 4 Bumper are eligible for a refund. As of today, we have automatically processed your refund. You have also been refunded for any Shipping or VAT charges which may have been applied to your order. If you paid via credit card, please allow 3-5 business days for the refund to reach your account. Thank you for choosing Apple. Sincerely, Apple Online Store Support.”

The Mac maker’s latest update for iPhone 4 owners, as shown in a screenshot published by MacRumors, goes:

Dear [Customer name]

We are pleased to advise you that your Apple Store order […] has been dispatched by mail and will be delivered to your shipping address.

The expected postal time for your order is 3 business days. This is an estimated lead time only and may vary slightly. As your order is being delivered by post there is no tracking available.

Please allow 3-4 days to receive your Invoice. Please note, your Invoice will be sent to you by e-mail and is not included with your delivery.

In order to apply for a free Bumper or third-party case, iPhone 4 owners must confirm with Apple that they own the company’s latest smartphone model by downloading a free app from the App Store. The software allows users to sign in using their iTunes Store account or Apple ID and select a Bumper case. Upon checkout, Apple is notified that an iPhone 4 owner has requested to have a Bumper sent to them.
