Another addictive title

Video games are becoming more and more addictive these days, with many companies trying to find that secret formula that guarantees massive popularity with the fans and, at the same time, develops their loyalty.

Two companies that have found ways of achieving this are PopCap and Blizzard, the first being the biggest and most popular casual game developer in the industry, and the second owning a lot of high-quality franchises, like StarCraft, Diablo, or the amazingly addictive World of Warcraft.

We've already seen the fact that PopCap has launched a special version of its hit puzzle game Peggle, which is playable inside World of Warcraft. Now, as an even more addictive way of cross-promoting the titles, the company has announced that a free WoW-themed version of Peggle is available as a free download at this link.

“PopCap first brought Peggle to Azeroth in April 2009 and got a great reception from World of Warcraft players,” T. Carl Kwoh, associate producer at PopCap Games, said. “We were jazzed to team up with Blizzard to make a World of Warcraft-themed version of Peggle that’s available to everyone for free.”

Filled with ten, all-new levels, the background art for them has been created by artists currently working with Blizzard. Sights and sounds from the popular MMORPG will also be incorporated into the levels found throughout the puzzle game.

As a special treat, when the title ends, there are two links, one leading to a demo version of the full Peggle game, and another one leading to a free, ten-day trial of Blizzard's World of Warcraft title.

Overall, this is certainly a very interesting way to promote the two titles and will certainly generate quite a few new customers for both PopCap and Blizzard. One could only think about what the two companies have planned next for the unsuspecting gamers around the world.
