For the last couple of years, cable operators have tried to bundle more services than ever in their set-top boxes, but few of them actually managed to do so, France's Free ISP being one of the success stories if we are to take a look at their Freebox v6 Revolution STB that comes stuffed full of features.

In case you're wondering what's so special about the Freebox, apart from that Philippe Starck design, then you are in for a treat as this STB comes with everything someone could want from such a device.

For starters, the Freebox can be used as a home router as it is provided with an integrated ADSL modem, four Ethernet ports as well as 802.11n WiFi, all these being run by an ARM9 1.2GHz processor that is paired together with 512MB of RAM memory.

The unit's connectivity options are put to good use by its media player capabilities as the Freebox v6 can play all sorts of video and audio files, media being handled by an Intel Atom CE4100 processor, the same solution used in Google TV products.

Furthermore, the Freebox also features a 250GB hard drive, an integrated Blu-ray player, inbuilt web browser, two USB and an eSATA port, a DECT base station as well as a DVB-T tuner.

Furthermore, the unit is designed to provide line and streaming television, Internet access, gaming (via a service similar to OnLive) and a home calling service, Free also planning to release mobile telephony support in 2012.

To wrap things up, the Freebox v6 Revolution STB is bundled together with a motion-sensing remote and a pair of powerline adapters, all these for as low as €59.99 or as much as €119.99, depending on the plan you opt for.

Right now, the cheapest plan available is priced at €29.99, although this could change when mobile telephony support is launched. (via engadget).
