Resistance has certainly been one of the most popular PlayStation 3 exclusive shooter franchises, largely due to the fact that it has offered a compelling story and a top notch gameplay. It places gamers in the combat boots of an usual soldier, Nathan Hale, who has to protect various countries, the United Kingdom in the first game and North America in the second one, from a dangerous and violent virus called the Chimera, which turns people into blood-thirsty creatures.

The most recent installment, Resistance 2, has gained quite a lot of critical acclaim for the fact that its three modes, solo, multiplayer, and co-op, come together seamlessly and offer a complete and thrilling experience to any player out there. The developer of this title, Insomniac Studios, has always stated that the community feedback is very important to it, and that Resistance 2 is tailor-made according to various wishes of everyday fans.

Now, as the holiday season approaches, Insomniac has just announced, through the voice of its Community Manager Bryan Intihar, that it will be offering quite a lot of free goodies on the PlayStation Network for all of the Resistance fans out there. First of all, as a token of appreciation for all of the gamers that bought Resistance 2, a special pack, consisting of three customizable themes for the PS3, will be unveiled today, as part of the weekly PS Store update, completely free of charge.

For the people who own the first game, Resistance: Fall of Man, Insomniac has prepared a very special gift, as all of the multiplayer map packs made for this title will be available for free with today's update of the virtual store. Furthermore, for people who haven't yet purchased the second game, a special trailer highlighting the epic moments of the game will be available for download, prompting users who haven't decided to pick up this very solid game to take a decision in this respect.

All in all, some very interesting goodies that are sure to make the big number of Resistance fans quite happy and give them a very busy holiday season. Let's just hope that Insomniac is also working on the future game of this shooter franchise.
