The console market is a very tough one and every producer is fighting for the customer's attention. The top three companies, Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony, are all engaged in a bitter fight and are heavily developing new features and services for their individual consoles in order to make them more attractive to the potential buyers.

Such is the case now, as Sony is preparing to unveil its new Home online platform, which will exploit the powerful capabilities of the PlayStation 3 and deliver a new online service for any game to benefit from. Although there have been quite a lot of teases, from the likes of various Sony executives in regard to this eagerly anticipated program, it now seems that the long wait is finally over.

After we reported yesterday that Home was still on track for a December release, it now seems that the open beta preview program will be unveiled today, as every PS3 user will find himself or herself connected to Sony's new online program. This new open beta stage will be available all across the world, but Sony has mentioned that a few regions might not get their hands on this new program now. All that you need to do is to power up your PS3 and connect to your PlayStation Network account; soon after that, the icon from Home will appear.

“PlayStation Home is truly a promising network community service on the PlayStation platform, made possible with the powerful combination of PS3's overwhelming computational power and PlayStation Network that covers many countries around the globe,” said Kazuo Hirai, president and group CEO, SCE. “We are committed to providing PS3 users with exciting gaming experiences with PlayStation Home and together with our partners and users, expand the new world of interactive entertainment as we move forward.”

This is truly very good news for all of the PS3 owners across the world, as Home is indeed looking quite promising and very different from what we have seen up until today, even though Microsoft seems to think otherwise. All that's left for us to do is come Home.
