“Captain America: The First Avenger” sequel, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” is on schedule, with Marvel now looking at candidates to play new characters. One of them is the villain Crossbones.

According to reports online, not only will he be making an appearance, but an actor to play it has already been – quite possibly – found: Frank Grillo.

For those to whom the name doesn’t really ring a bell, Grillo has been making quite a lot of waves recently.

He was seen in last year’s critical hit “Warrior” with Tom Hardy, and, in 2012, in “End of Watch” with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Granted, both roles were supporting but he truly brought depth and substance to his characters. He’d make for an awesome villain, if you ask me (which Marvel probably won’t do).

Grillo himself is at the source of these rumors, tweeting over the weekend, “See Ya LA. It was a a good trip. Marvel was a lot of fun. Be cool if it works out. #CaptainAmerica.”

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” stars shooting in the spring of 2013 so, by all means, Marvel should announce the full cast shortly. It opens in April 2014.
